In an effort to create herd immunity among the country’s population, Chinese doctors have vaccinated more than a billion local residents against coronavirus.

Such data is published by foreign media with reference to a message from the State Committee for Hygiene and Health of China.

As of June 19, doctors in China have administered 1.01 billion injections.

The start of mass vaccination in China was given on December 15 last year. Already in mid-spring of this year, doctors reported that 126.6 million people had been vaccinated.

In May, this figure increased to 270.41 million people.

At the beginning of the summer, the vaccine had been administered to 681.9 million Chinese citizens.

According to the plans of the PRC government, epidemiologists were tasked with reaching the vaccination target of 40% of the country’s population this month.

But according to media reports, 1.01 billion people were vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in 31 administrative-territorial units of the country.

At the moment, there are no reports of how many people received only the first component of the vaccine, and how many were vaccinated with the full course.

As Chinese epidemiologist Zhong Nanshan previously reported, the country plans to vaccinate 80% of the population by the end of this year.
