The Public Ministry defended the end of granting tax incentives and financing lines to those who practice illegal deforestation throughout the country.

The measure is included in a national strategic plan formulated by the National Council of the Public Ministry (CNMP) before the .

The program suggests a series of initiatives to prevent crimes, but also focuses on repressive actions against offenders.

According to the document, it is necessary not only to request an administrative embargo of the area, but also to suspend access to tax benefits.

The need to end “lines of credit granted by public authorities or with public resources by official institutions” is also mentioned.

Other measures include the blocking of assets in the amount necessary to repair environmental damage, in addition to compensation for collective moral damages.

Violators may also suffer penalties regarding the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR), in addition to the suspension of licenses and environmental authorizations.

The national plan foresees that the MP, Federal Police (PF), Military Police (PM), Technical-Scientific Police, Fire Department, Ibama and criminal experts work together.

According to the CNMP, this task force must intensify inspection, apply severe fines and file “rigorous civil and criminal actions”.
