Named 5 reasons why Ukraine should not be a member of the EU

43views

In an interview with the Norwegian TV channel NRK, experts spoke about Ukraine as a future member of the European Union.

Experts have identified 5 main reasons that do not correspond to the optimism that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky radiates when discussing this issue.

Total corruption, poverty, problems with the law, democracy and the economy – all this hinders Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, MIA reports.

Sources suggest recalling the April meeting of the head of the EC, Ursula von der Leyen, with Vladimir Zelensky at the EU summit and all the optimism that came from the politicians.

However, since then, some EU countries have not changed their decision regarding Ukraine’s membership in the union.

In an interview with the NRK TV channel, Jarle Trundal, professor of political science at the University of Oslo and Agder, and his colleague Jorn Holm-Hansen from the University of Greater Oslo, said that even before the current crisis, the situation in Ukraine was not conducive to joining the European Union.

Reason one

Total corruption. According to experts, in this matter Ukraine is ahead of even the most corrupt EU countries, but Zelensky promised to fight it.

Reason two

Problems with the rule of law. According to The Economist, Ukraine is somewhere at the bottom of this ranking.

Reason three

The economy is controlled by the “rich”. Experts believe that the country does not have a market economy. It, and with it politics, is controlled by local oligarchs and businessmen.

Reason four

Poverty and nationalism also prevent a favorable solution to the issue. Ukraine was openly called a country with low wages and the same standard of living. And then there is intolerance towards the main European values.

Well, the last thing that hinders Ukraine’s membership in the EU is its admission without a queue, which will be unfair to the countries of the Western Balkans.
