190views

A meeting of the North Atlantic Council was held in Brussels with the participation of ambassadors from 32 NATO countries.

At that event, they approved the candidacy of Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte (by the way, he lost the elections in his country) for the post of Secretary General of the Alliance.

This honorable gentleman will lead the military-political bloc for the next five years.

The TASS agency reported this with reference to a representative of the NATO press service.

The ambassadors of NATO countries approved the candidacy of the Prime Minister of the Netherlands for the post of Secretary General of the alliance, he told reporters.

And he added: the politician from the Netherlands will take up a new position in October of this year.

Until now, the Alliance will continue to be led by the well-known Norwegian citizen Jens Stoltenberg.

By the way, the latter stood at the helm of NATO for ten years, which became an absolute record in the organization.

It is known that Rutte has already been congratulated on his successful employment by his predecessor, who was just discussed, as well as by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

Earlier, the new NATO Secretary General was announced by European journalists.
