The North Atlantic Alliance is not going to change the location of nuclear weapons in Europe.

This information was voiced by the head of the NATO Directorate for Nuclear Policy, Jessica Cox.

What NATO said about the deployment of nuclear weapons in Europe

In an interview with a Finnish publication, the head of NATO’s nuclear policy directorate said that there are no plans to change the location of nuclear weapons in Europe in the near future.

According to Cox, NATO is comfortable with the current location of nuclear weapons in the United States and Europe.

The nuclear weapons the US has stationed in Europe are in a good place where they are now, – said a representative of the organization.

Cox noted that the risks of deploying nuclear weapons in new countries should be discussed at the NATO level.

She also stated that NATO does not see any prerequisites for the use of nuclear weapons, although it is concerned about this possibility.

We are constantly concerned about this scenario. But right now we don’t see any development in this direction, – said the head of the directorate.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Defense of Finland, Antti Hyakanen, said that the country will remain a nuclear-free state and will not host nuclear weapons.

He also stated that NATO, in principle, does not plan to deploy nuclear weapons in new countries.
