How NATO assesses the discovery of drone debris in Romania

The day before, the Romanian Ministry of Defense announced the discovery of drone debris similar to those used by Russia in Tulcea County.

The Romanian Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador Valery Kuzmin to protest the airspace violation.

NATO has no information that these are attacks on NATO territory – it is very important to note this, – said the deputy secretary general of the alliance, commenting on the discovery of drone debris in Romania.

The NATO Deputy Secretary General assured that the alliance is in contact with Romanian military structures to assess the situation and is taking measures to strengthen the defense of the territory of NATO countries, including Romania.

Earlier, the head of the Romanian Ministry of Defense, Angel Tylvar, announced the discovery of debris in the country that could be parts of drones, clarifying that the discovered objects do not pose a danger.

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis demanded an urgent investigation, and the leader of the Union for the Salvation of Romanians, Kathleen Drule, accused the country’s leadership of hiding information and called for consultations with NATO.

Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO has no information about a deliberate attack by Russia in the context of the drone incident.

On Saturday, the Romanian Ministry of Defense announced the discovery of fragments of a drone similar to those used by Russia in the Plauru area of ​​Tulcea County.

The representative of the Romanian Ministry of Defense, Constantin Spinu, said that we could be talking about a new discovery, and the country’s president informed Stoltenberg about the discovery of new drone debris. The Romanian Foreign Ministry sent a note of protest to the Russian embassy.
