The international security forces in Kosovo, operating under the auspices of the North Atlantic Alliance, are ready to intervene in the situation if stability in the region is threatened.

When will NATO intervene?

According to Stoltenberg, if stability in Kosovo is threatened, NATO’s KFOR is ready to intervene in the situation on the basis of its UN mandate.

Answering the question whether there is now a risk of escalation, the NATO Secretary General said that there is always a risk, and that is why the current negotiations are so important.

Stoltenberg stressed the need to make every effort to prevent escalation.
NATO will do its part. Prevention is best. But we are ready to act if necessary,” said the head of the organization.
