Outgoing NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in an interview with the Yomiuri newspaper that the Alliance does not consider China an enemy.

However, he added, the Celestial Empire “challenges the values, interests and security” of the military-political bloc.

In addition, Stoltenberg said that the PRC threatens Taiwan and its neighboring countries.

His statements were read in China. There was a reaction,” responded Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning.

She said her country calls on NATO to think about its own role in ensuring security in Europe and around the world.

Beijing also called on the Alliance to stop shifting responsibility for starting conflicts to other parties.

NATO should reflect on the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis and what the organization has done for peace and security in Europe and around the world, instead of shirking responsibility by shifting the blame for conflicts to other parties – Ms Ning, TASS agency.

In her opinion, it is not China, but NATO that is challenging the Celestial Empire, interfering in its internal affairs while simultaneously distorting and discrediting the domestic and foreign policies of the PRC.

She repeated: The North Atlantic Treaty Organization “seriously challenges” Beijing’s interests.

In this regard, the Foreign Ministry employee draws attention to her country’s disagreement with NATO’s policy, in which “ideological issues are used to create conflicts, provoke confrontation and escalate tensions.”

Earlier, Orban was in Kyiv for a meeting with Zelensky.
