NATO wants to create 3 bases for supplying weapons to Ukraine – Orban

NATO is considering the possibility of creating military bases in Poland, Slovakia and Romania to coordinate arms supplies to Ukraine.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban made this statement on Radio Kossuth.

The politician drew attention: we are talking about a project of the North Atlantic Alliance called “NATO Mission in Ukraine.”

Three large bases

If this plan is realized, says Orban, the military-political bloc will become the main coordinator of arms supplies to Kyiv.

They will create three large military bases where they will transfer weapons to Ukraine, also here on the territory of NATO countries – in Poland, Slovakia and Romania – to the head of the Hungarian government MIA Rossiya Segodnya.

He also said that Budapest does not plan to take part in this action.

He justified his reluctance by the fact that the country that supplies weapons automatically becomes a legitimate target for the enemy.

And Orban does not want to expose his country and its inhabitants to such a risk, “making even one square centimeter of Hungarian territory a military target.”

NATO is not more important than Hungary

He also said that Budapest will not participate in financing the NATO mission in Ukraine (supply of weapons, training of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers).

In addition, the prime minister added, Hungary will not provide its territory for the preparation of military operations and will not participate in a NATO mission outside its territory.

Orbán noted: “NATO cannot be more important than Hungarian interests.”

The negotiations were long and difficult, and in the end we agreed and got everything we wanted. In return, I promised that we will not prevent those who want it from creating such a mission at a future NATO summit,” Orban said about his dialogue with the organization’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

Earlier, Stoltenberg said that Hungary will not block NATO assistance to Ukraine.
