The current head of the Republic of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, will remain in office.

The fact is that the politician won the next presidential election in Lithuania.

This is reported with reference to data from the State Inspectorate of the Baltic country.

Results of the presidential elections in Lithuania

Two weeks ago the first round of presidential elections took place in the republic.

Then Nausėda failed to secure victory for himself: he did not receive an absolute majority of votes.

According to the results of the first round, 44.19 percent of voters who came to the polling stations voted for the current President of Lithuania.

Ingrida Simonyte received 19.78 percent of the votes, also qualifying for the second round.

The decisive voting stage took place on Sunday, May 26.

At this time, votes have been counted at all polling stations.

The results are as follows: Nauseda – 74.43 percent, Simonyte – 24.06 percent.

Thus, the current head of the Lithuanian state has been elected for another 5 years, and his now former rival will continue to head the government of the Baltic country.

Earlier, the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze was warned by the European Union.
