The Parliament of Kazakhstan approved amendments to the legislation concerning the former President of the country Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Deputies supported the changes that abolished the lifelong chairmanship of the ex-head of the republic in the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan (APC) and the Security Council.

This was reported by the press service of the upper house of the parliament of Kazakhstan, on whose website the meeting was broadcast.

Senators supported changes in legislation that the Security Council and the ANC should be headed by the head of state in his position – Parliamentarian Lyazzat Suleimen informed.

Earlier, local media reported that senators would retain Nursultan Nazarbayev’s right to speak before both houses of parliament.

He can also speak at government meetings when discussing issues important to Kazakhstan.

This decision, according to the press, was made due to Nazarbayev’s “historic mission”.

In addition, they planned to retain the right of the former President to join the Constitutional Council of Kazakhstan.
