New plague: the number of cases of “black mold” has increased by 150%

7views

The black fungus epidemic is gaining momentum in India.

As foreign websites write, the number of cases of mucormycosis in the country has increased by 150 percent over the past three weeks and reached 31 thousand.

More than two thousand people died from this disease in a few weeks.

The jump in incidence is caused by a shortage of the drug Amphotericin B, which is used to treat patients.

To complicate the situation, patients cannot be treated when the mold invades the brain and they die.

The mortality rate of mucormycosis is high. To rid patients of the disease, doctors have to remove infected tissue.

Mucormycosis, or “black mold,” is a disease caused by a fungal infection.

The disease is dangerous for countries with unsanitary living conditions. Coronavirus patients are also infected with it while taking steroid drugs.

Black mold has also spread to Iraq and Egypt.
