According to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Finland and Sweden’s entry into the North Atlantic Alliance will take a long time.

The Turkish leader expressed this opinion upon returning from the NATO summit in Madrid.

Turkey’s position

Erdogan said the decisions taken at the Madrid summit did not mean that “the work is over.”

The Turkish President noted that this is just an invitation to Finland and Sweden to join the alliance, which is the beginning of a long process.

Some people are in a bit of a hurry. This is another invitation. A long process begins with this invitation, it is unclear how long it will take, – quotes the head of the Turkish state.

Erdogan recalled that Macedonia’s accession to NATO took many years.

The Turkish leader also noted that the approval of the Turkish Parliament would be required.

No need to fuss. Currently, Finland and Sweden are not members of NATO, this needs to be known once and for all, – Erdogan emphasized.
