North Korean leader Kim Jong-un announced plans to create the world’s most powerful strategic nuclear forces in the country.
It is reported that the DPRK’s plans are not intended to intimidate the world community, but are being developed solely to protect sovereignty and the population.
Pyongyang intends to have “unprecedented absolute” power in order to protect state sovereignty and the North Korean people, MIA reports with reference to KCNA.
The corresponding statement was made by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un at an event to mark the presentation of new titles to military personnel and defense research scientists.
It follows from the leader’s statement that the DPRK must build nuclear armed forces to ensure “eternal reliable protection of the dignity and sovereignty of the state and people.”
Kim Jong-un called this work “the greatest and most important revolutionary work,” and its main goal was to possess “the most powerful strategic power in the world, unprecedented absolute power.”
At the official event, military personnel, leaders and ordinary scientists (more than 100 people in total) were honored who took part in the development and improvement of the new type of intercontinental ballistic missiles “Hwasong-17”.
According to Kim Jong-un, the achievement of North Korean nuclear physicists is “the most powerful strategic weapon in the world.”
Let us recall that on November 18, the DPRK launched the Hwasong-17 ICBM. The rocket was fired towards the Sea of Japan and covered 999.2 kilometers along a hinged trajectory at an altitude of 6040.9 kilometers in almost 69 minutes. The rocket fell, according to calculations, in the Sea of Japan.
Meanwhile, the Japanese Ministry of Defense calculated that the new North Korean missile, when launched along a normal trajectory, could cover 15 thousand kilometers, i.e., reach US territory.
