North Korea says the test of a hypersonic missile (the second this year) was successful.

The warhead hit a target thousands of kilometers away. The tests took place in the presence of Kim Jong-un.

Such information was the official publication of the DPRK Workers’ Party, Nodong Sinmun. The publication also illustrated the event with photographs.

Earlier, information appeared that Pyongyang at about 07:27 (01:27 Belarusian time) launched one, apparently, ballistic missile towards the Sea of ​​Japan.

According to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, the missile flew at least 700 kilometers.

The maximum speed reached Mach 10 (11,932.56 km/h), the maximum flight altitude was 60 kilometers.

The test was once again successful. The hypersonic glide unit separated from the missile at 600 kilometers and hit an established target at sea at a distance of one thousand kilometers, writes the mentioned North Korean publication.

It also notes that the unit made a turn of 240 kilometers from the initial launch azimuth to the target azimuth.

Following the test, Kim Jong-un expressed “special gratitude” to the missile developers, saying that its creation is a “huge success” for the country.

Earlier, on January 5, North Korea conducted another test of this kind. Then Pyongyang also announced the success of the event: the missile was reported to have flown 700 km and hit the target.
