NYT: Hezbollah will enter the Palestinian-Israeli conflict if Hamas is weakened

21views

The Lebanese Hezbollah movement will intervene in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict if the Palestinian Hamas movement is significantly weakened.

This was reported by the American edition of The New York Times, citing a Lebanese official.

When will Hezbollah intervene in the conflict?

According to the source, Hezbollah does not intervene in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict with full force in order to avoid escalation.

According to the official, Hezbollah believes that Hamas does not need assistance at this time, but the destruction of Hamas would be a red line for Hezbollah.

Hezbollah fighters will enter the war if Hamas is on its last legs, – writes the publication.

Exacerbation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict

On October 7, after an unprecedented rocket attack from the Gaza Strip, fighters from the military wing of Hamas infiltrated the southern border areas of Israel and announced Operation Al-Aqsa Deluge against Israel.

Israel responded by launching Operation Iron Swords in Gaza. Within a few days, the Israel Defense Forces took control of all border areas and began carrying out airstrikes against targets in the enclave.

Israel also organized a complete blockade of the sector, blocking the supply of electricity, fuel, water, food, and medicine.

Today, the IDF reported that it had hit more than 11,000 targets in Gaza since October 7.

The death toll in the enclave exceeded 8,500, and more than 21,000 were injured. More than 1,400 people died in Israel.
