The repair of artillery transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces by Western partners has become a real problem for Kyiv.
This is the opinion of the authors of The New York Times, citing representatives of Ukraine and the United States. It became known that part of the transferred weapons is being serviced in Poland.
The repair shop for Western artillery is equipped in Poland, which causes certain difficulties, since at least a third of howitzers are constantly under repair, reports.
Due to the remote location of the workshops, Kyiv has encountered problems and wants to move the bases closer to the battlefields.
Field repair
Due to the widespread use of Western artillery pieces, which wear out after a few months or are damaged in battle, repairs are needed.
According to published information, a third of the howitzers transferred to Ukraine have been disabled to date. In total, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were provided with 350 different guns.
But according to informed sources, repairs in the field, as required by Kyiv, will be difficult. Due to the weight and length of the howitzer barrel, it is simply impossible to replace it in the field.
At the same time, it became clear that the US military is closely monitoring the state of Ukrainian weapons.
