NYT: the US wants to force the EU to pay for American weapons for Ukraine

The United States wants to shift the costs of providing military assistance to Ukraine to European countries.

The American edition of The New York Times reports this.

What plans does the USA have?

According to a report, new options for financing arms supplies to Ukraine are being discussed in Washington.

The reason for the discussions was the blocking by Congress of a bill to provide assistance to Kyiv.

In particular, the option of exchanging weapons with third countries for subsequent transfer to Ukraine is being considered.

Or, for example, for European countries to pay for American weapons and their delivery to Ukraine, – said in the publication.

The possibility of purchasing weapons for Ukraine using frozen Russian assets is also being considered, but this is associated with certain difficulties.

As officials from the administration of US President Joseph Biden told the publication, the use of Russian assets may require Congressional approval.

Yesterday, a package bill providing for assistance to Ukraine and Israel and tightening border control measures did not pass the first procedural vote in the Senate.

The document provided for additional budgetary allocations of more than $118 billion. It was proposed to allocate $60.06 billion to support Ukraine, $14.1 billion to support Israel, and $20.23 billion to ensure border security.

Earlier, the American base in Syria was attacked with rockets.
