The head of the Hungarian government, Viktor Orban, following the results of his peacekeeping mission, during which he visited Ukraine, Russia, China and the United States, sent proposals to the leaders of the European Union countries to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.

This information was voiced by political adviser to the Hungarian Prime Minister Balazs Orban in an interview with Magyar Nemzet, as reported.

What is known about the peace plan conveyed by Orban to EU leaders

As Balazs Orban said, the Hungarian Prime Minister informed the leaders of the community countries in writing about the results of the first stage of negotiations and Budapest’s proposals.

According to the adviser to the Hungarian Prime Minister, if Europe wants peace and wants to have a decisive voice in resolving the conflict, it needs to change its political course.

Balazs Orbán noted that the plan of the head of the Hungarian government is now on the table of every EU prime minister.

A realistic assessment of the situation, realistic goals and a suitable schedule is what our approach is based on, – he explained.

As part of his peacekeeping mission, Orban met with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Kyiv on July 2, and held talks in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin on July 5.

From Russia, the Hungarian prime minister went to China, where he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, then to Washington, where on the sidelines of the North Atlantic Alliance summit he talked with Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

After this, the head of the Hungarian government met with former US President Donald Trump at his residence in Florida.

According to Balazs Orbán, the Hungarian Prime Minister informed the leaders of the EU countries in detail about his visits.

The adviser to the head of the Hungarian government emphasized the importance of these visits, noting that now only Hungary has up-to-date and specific information about what the parties to the conflict and the most important mediating players think and how different interests can be taken into account.

According to him, this is how a plan can be developed that has at least a minimal chance of implementation.

Balazs Orban did not specify whether there was any reaction to Hungary’s proposals sent to European capitals.

Responding to Brussels’ criticism of Orban’s peacekeeping mission, his adviser confirmed that the Hungarian authorities consider it necessary to keep open channels of communication with Russia for the purpose of a settlement.

If we really want peace, we must communicate with each other, – he concluded, adding that there are political forces that advocate war and do not want peace in Europe.
