It is possible that in addition to athletes, only VIPs will be able to attend the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics.

Japanese authorities are currently discussing options for holding the opening ceremony of the Games. There is a possibility that it will take place without spectators, with the “special quota” being maintained.

Local media report that only IOC representatives, diplomats and, of course, sponsors will be able to attend the ceremony.

The decision will be made this Thursday within the framework of a five-party meeting of the IOC, members of the International Paralympic Committee, the Tokyo authorities, the Japanese government, and the Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee.

The Games will start on July 23 at 21:00 local time or 15:00 Moscow time.

Let us remind you that the Tokyo Olympics were postponed for a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The games will take place from July 23 to August 8. We are talking about competitions in 33 sports and 339 categories. 19 thousand athletes must take part.

It is already known that foreign fans will definitely not be allowed into the Olympics.

The fate of the Games was once again discussed after an increase in the incidence of coronavirus was noted in the capital of Japan.

It is possible that the government may strengthen measures to combat the pandemic during the Olympics.
