Over 20 people were injured during clashes in Kyiv

36views

On Tuesday, January 25, in Kyiv, near the Verkhovna Rada, protesters clashed with law enforcement officers.

As a result, 18 police officers and three protesters were injured – they received injuries of varying degrees of severity.

The press service of the National Police of Ukraine reports this, noting that some of the protesters behaved extremely aggressively.

What did the protesters want?

The reason why people came out to protest was their disagreement with the requirement for private entrepreneurs to use cash registers without fail.

The protesters put forward their demand to abolish this norm.

However, during the event, clashes broke out between them and the police – some citizens were aggressive.

The latter tried to break through the police barrier at the Verkhovna Rada, pushing law enforcement officers.

There was no response to repeated demands to stop such actions.

Victims

Law enforcement officers eventually pushed back the aggressive activists of the rally, but 18 of them were injured, as well as three protesters.

Participants who resisted the lawful demands of law enforcement officers and committed illegal actions were taken to the Pechersk police department, the department reported.

The National Police also commented on the information that one of the protesters died.

Law enforcement officials call this information untrue.

We inform you that the police provided first aid to the man who became ill, the National Police noted.

And they added: based on the facts of illegal actions on January 25, criminal cases were opened (hooliganism and threat or violence against a police officer).

Currently, investigative actions are being carried out, the NPU summarized.
