Oxygen ran out on the submersible that disappeared in the Atlantic

0views

The US Coast Guard has reported that oxygen supplies on a bathyscaphe carrying tourists that went missing in the Atlantic Ocean may have run out.

This is the same submersible that a few days ago began diving to the sunken cruise ship Titanic.

According to Coast Guard estimates, the oxygen ran out at 07:08 am Eastern Time (14:08 Minsk time), – Rossiya Segodnya MIA.

At the same time, the Coast Guard’s 1st District response coordinator, Captain Jamie Frederick, said it was impossible to say exactly when the oxygen would run out, but “it’s important to remain hopeful.”

Some experts admit the possibility that the passengers of the bathyscaphe may, through certain actions, stretch their oxygen reserves.

It is known that among the tourists there is an experienced diver. It is assumed that he could tell others how to minimize oxygen consumption.

A remote-controlled underwater vehicle lowered to the bottom from the Canadian vessel Horizon Arctic joined the search for the missing bathyscaphe.

The team of the French ship L’Atalante intends to use another device in the search.
