The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe advocated the withdrawal of the Russian Federation from the international organization.
PACE representatives advocated that the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe appeal to Russia with a demand to leave the association.
The corresponding conclusion was formulated based on the voting results.
The project was supported by all voting deputies of the Parliamentary Assembly – 216 people. None of the deputies voted against.
At the same time, there were deputies who did not speak out in favor of this or that decision: 3 people abstained.
The Assembly considers that the Committee of Ministers should ask the Russian Federation to immediately withdraw from the Council of Europe, – MIA quotes from the conclusion adopted by PACE.
The organization also proposed an action plan if Russia refuses to follow the call.
In this case, PACE considers it necessary to choose a date when the Russian Federation will lose its membership in the Council of Europe.
However, it is worth noting that the Russian side has already decided to leave the organization.
The relevant information was published in a letter that the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergei Lavrov handed over to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.
