“Parallel Abin”: PF arrests parliamentary advisor suspected of disseminating false information

30views

The Federal Police launched this Thursday (10) the 5th phase of Operation Last Mile. The investigation investigates the use of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin) structure to monitor authorities during the administration of former president Bolsonaro.

Federal police officers served a preventive arrest warrant and two search and seizure warrants issued by the Federal Supreme Court (STF).

According to PF sources, the arrest warrant is against parliamentary advisor Daniel Ribeiro Lemos. He currently works in the office of federal deputy Pedro Jr. (PL-TO). The parliamentarian’s team, who is not the target of the operation, said he should not speak out.

The two search warrants are at two of the advisor’s addresses.

According to investigators, the advisor acted as a “bridge” between the “disinformation propagation vectors” and the “parallel nucleus-structure”, being the main cell operating in the Presidency of the Republic. The investigation points out that he acted as a “digital influencer” and was based at Palácio do Planalto at the time of the “parallel Abin”.

Daniel Ribeiro had already been the target of search and seizure in another phase of Operation Última Milha. At the time, he had equipment seized and was complying with precautionary measures, such as withholding his passport and prohibiting him from talking to other people being investigated.

Testimonials advance

Last week, the CNN showed that new statements are being taken in this investigation. Former government minister Jair Bolsonaro (PL), General Carlos Alberto dos Santos Cruz provided.

The general was head of Bolsonaro’s Government Secretariat and testified as a witness. Investigators questioned the former minister regarding the alleged structure set up at Palácio do Planalto to monitor political opponents of the then government and disseminate disinformation.

The PF also wanted to know whether councilor Carlos Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), who is being investigated in the investigation, commanded the so-called “parallel Abin”. The former president’s son denies it.

The report found that the general answered all questions and collaborated with the investigation.
