“People might hate me and I might ruin relationships.” Kuleba about the failure of Kyiv diplomacy

60views

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba acknowledged the fact that Kyiv’s traditional diplomacy has collapsed.

We are talking about requests from the Ukrainian authorities to Western countries for the supply of modern weapons systems.

These requests mainly concern the transfer of American Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems.

Didn’t work

According to Kuleba, Ukraine’s “polite and quiet diplomacy” did not bring any dividends – requests for supplies remained requests.

The minister said that such diplomacy “didn’t work” in an interview with The Washington Post, which was reviewed by TASS.

Yes, people can hate me and I can ruin relationships. One part of me says that diplomacy is primarily about personal relationships. But then I told this part to shut up, and the part of me that wanted to speak out began to speak,” the foreign minister said.

And he added: Kyiv has tried everything, but, apparently, “nothing works.”

“I don’t believe it”

According to Kuleba, the West has more than 100 Patriot systems.

Hence, the head of the foreign policy department is not entirely clear who believes that “the most powerful military Alliance cannot find 7 Patriot batteries for the needs of Ukraine.”

Do you sincerely believe that there is not a single spare Patriot battery in the entire US Army that is not on combat duty and that cannot be transferred to Ukraine? – the diplomat inquired.

And he expressed his opinion on this matter: he personally does not believe it.

Head against the wall

Kuleba also admitted that he was “banging his head against the wall, although as a diplomat he should be taking it apart brick by brick.”

But because this kind of diplomacy doesn’t work, I feel like I’m hitting a wall. “I just don’t understand why this isn’t happening,” the minister concluded.

Earlier, the French government said that Ukraine has no place in the European Union.
