Commenting on this information, Peskov said that it was up to the residents of the region to decide whether or not to apply for the Kherson region to join the Russian Federation.
And the residents of the Kherson region must also determine their destiny, – said the press secretary of the Russian head of state.
According to the Kremlin representative, such a fateful decision must have a clear legal basis and be absolutely legitimate.
As was the case with Crimea, – Peskov added.
Answering a clarifying question about whether, in the Kremlin’s opinion, it is right to hold a referendum in the Kherson region, the press secretary of the Russian president noted that he did not say anything about a referendum.
