Peskov said that he was preventing Putin from organizing a meeting with Zelensky

One of the main reasons preventing today from organizing a meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian presidents has been announced.

According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the barrier is Kyiv’s reluctance to fulfill its obligations under the Minsk agreements.

The second factor named by Putin’s press secretary is the discrepancy between the current positions of Vladimir Zelensky and the statements he made at the beginning of his presidency.

Dmitry Peskov informed about this in the program “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin” on the TV channel “Russia 1”.

He noted that Zelensky initially looked like “a very modern democratic president,” bringing order and democracy to Ukraine.

And of course, this attitude, it clearly does not correlate with absolutely unprecedented pressure on political opponents, with the desire to get rid of one’s successful political opponents by opening a criminal case,” Peskov said.

Let us recall that earlier during the direct line, the President of Russia, assessing the likelihood of his meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, said that he had nothing to talk about with Zelensky, who had put his country “under complete external control.”

However, Vladimir Putin noted that he does not refuse the meeting, but it is necessary to understand “what to talk about.”

A little later, Dmitry Peskov assured journalists that no work was being done to organize negotiations between the leaders of the two countries.
