took to the streets this Thursday (19) to arrest councilor José Joacir Cristovão da Silva (PSD), known as “Oim”. He is a politician in the municipality of João Alfredo, in Pernambuco, and appointed by the PF as the leader of drug trafficking in the city.

The councilor was not found by authorities and is considered a fugitive. The PF also carried out searches at the city council chamber.

The operation, coordinated by the PF of Mato Grosso do Sul, was launched to execute, in total, 12 arrest warrants and 16 search and seizure warrants in Pernambuco, Goiás, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul.

Operation “Olho de Vidro”, which aims to combat transnational drug trafficking, also resulted in the interdiction of two companies and the seizure of vehicles, properties and valuables in the bank accounts of 17 people under investigation.

The investigations began in May 2022, investigating those responsible for forwarding a load of around 400 kg of marijuana and cocaine, which was being transported in a seized truck in Ponta Porã (MS).

From this incident, the PF says it identified the activities of a criminal organization.

In addition to the arrest warrants, the police carried out seven arrests for illegal possession of a restricted firearm and drug trafficking, with the consequent seizure of: four pistols, a shotgun, cocaine and marijuana.

A CNN tries to contact the councilor’s defense and the City Council.
