PGR defends unlocking of the X; decision is up to Moraes

45views

The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) spoke out in favor of unblocking the social network X (formerly Twitter).

The opinion is signed by the Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet.

The demonstration was made after Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), sent the case for evaluation by the body.

According to Gonet, there is no longer any reason for the platform to remain suspended.

“The reasons that justified the decision of 8/30/2024 no longer persist. The previously verified non-submissions were stopped. The Attorney General of the Republic sees no reason to prevent the company from returning to its activities,” said the PGR.

On Monday (7), the Court’s Judicial Secretariat confirmed the transfer of the amount of R$28.6 million in fines imposed on X to the correct bank account.

It was the last condition imposed by Moraes so that the platform could return to operation.

The return still depends on Moraes’ decision. There is no set deadline for him to decide.
