Three PL federal deputies were formally accused of embezzling R$1.6 million in parliamentary amendments.

Deputies Josimar Maranhãozinho (PL-MA), Bosco Costa (PL-SE) and Pastor Gil (PL-MA) are the targets of the investigation.

The complaint is being processed in secret from the courts, under the report of Minister Cristiano Zanin. Now, it will be up to the First Panel of the STF to decide whether they should become defendants.

The irregularities involve the allocation of amendments to São José de Ribamar, the third most populous municipality in Maranhão, 30 kilometers from São Luís.

According to investigations by the Federal Police (PF), the scheme involved an attempt to extort the city hall so that part of the funds could be returned to parliamentarians.

The money did not actually return to the deputies’ pockets, but the PGR considered that, even so, the crime of corruption was characterized.
