German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius brought the bad news to Kyiv, thereby upsetting and disappointing the Berlin-backed country.

In particular, the head of the department said that the European Union would not be able to fulfill its promise to transfer 1 million shells to the Armed Forces of Ukraine within the specified period.

One million will not be achieved, we must proceed from this reality, – Pistorius MIA “Russia Today”.

It is noted that the official made such a statement before the start of a meeting of the defense ministers of the European Union states in Brussels.

According to the head of the German Ministry of Defense, initially there were those in the EU who were skeptical about the idea of supplying 1 million ammunition to Ukraine.

Skeptics said that this was not feasible due to the lack of the necessary capacity to produce such a volume of shells in a short time.

And they, unfortunately, turned out to be right,” Pistorius noted.

However, he added, despite this problem, “responsible parties” are taking all measures to speed up the ammunition production process.

Earlier, the European Union announced that it had supplied Kyiv with 300,000 shells out of the planned million.

In turn, Bloomberg, citing its own sources, reported that Brussels notified the EU countries that it would most likely not be possible to fulfill the promise to supply Ukraine with 1 million ammunition by March next year.
