Poland deprives refugees from Ukraine of benefits

46views

From July 1, Poland will stop paying benefits to its citizens intended to support Ukrainian refugees.

Those of them who arrived in the country at the end of February this year.

Free travel on public transport, including trains, was also canceled for migrants from Ukraine.

TASS reported this, recalling that Poland had previously adopted a special law in order to support its citizens accepting Ukrainian refugees.

Thus, according to the document, the Poles received 40 zlotys (less than $10) daily.

From July 1, these payments are no longer provided, but only for those refugees who arrived in Poland at the end of February and who have already received payments for 120 days (this period was agreed upon earlier).

For exactly 120 days, refugees from Ukraine could receive support from the state in Poland, and then they were offered to find a job and pay for rented housing themselves.

Exceptions are disabled people, pregnant women, mothers with small children or three or more children.

The government does not restrict anything. The government is not finalizing anything. The government and the majority in the Sejm simply do not extend these 120 days, said Deputy Head of the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs Pavel Schefernaker.

In other words, the period of support for “February” refugees has not been extended. But if a Ukrainian arrived in the country in July, he will have 4 months to adapt.

Accordingly, Poles receiving “July” migrants will be able to receive 40 zlotys daily for 120 days.
Let us add that after February 24, according to local border services, about 4.4 million Ukrainians arrived in Poland.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that there are currently between 1.3 million and 1.5 million Ukrainian refugees in the country.
