The new Polish government is not against the deployment of German troops in the country.

This information was voiced by Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland Andrzej Sheina in an interview with the Polish publication Rzeczpospolita.

What the Polish Foreign Ministry said about the deployment of German troops

Sheina noted that Poland, in the context of hostilities beyond its eastern border, welcomes any help from its allies.

According to the deputy minister, Poland is ready to station German troops on its territory to strengthen the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance.

If the Germans want to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank in Poland, as they did in Lithuania, then welcome, – said the Deputy Head of the Polish Foreign Ministry in an interview.

The publication notes that the previous Polish government, after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, rejected the proposal of the now former German Ambassador to Poland Arndt Freytag von Lorinhofen to station German troops in the country to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank.

In December 2023, the Ministers of Defense of Germany and Lithuania, Boris Pistorius and Arvydas Anusauskas, approved a detailed plan for the deployment of a Bundeswehr brigade in Lithuania.

In the second half of this year, a corresponding intergovernmental agreement is expected to be signed, after which the transfer of units will begin.

The full brigade of 4,800 troops and 200 personnel will be deployed by 2027.

Earlier, 11 people became victims of floods in Brazil.
