Polish technical services repaired the damaged section of the Druzhba pipeline.

The pipeline’s functionality has been fully restored and oil pumping has resumed.

PERN, the operator of the Polish section of the oil pipeline, informed about this on October 15.

PERN Statement

According to the company, technical services have fully restored the functionality of the damaged oil pipeline through which oil is supplied to PERN customers in Germany.

Currently, oil supplies are carried out through both oil pipelines of the western section.

The reasons that led to the depressurization of the pipeline are being established. The area contaminated with oil is being cleaned up and restored.

Let us remind you that depressurization was recorded on the evening of October 11 on one of the two lines of the western section of the pipeline, 70 kilometers from Plock.

The damaged thread was immediately disconnected. The second line and the rest of the infrastructure worked fine.

On Thursday, Poland’s government commissioner for strategic energy infrastructure, Mateusz Berger, said the accident was caused by a “relatively large” crack in the pipeline.

According to Berger, the cause of the emergency was the deterioration of the pipe; nothing indicates sabotage.
