It has become known why Germany refuses to create a service center in Poland to service German Leopard tanks transferred to Ukraine.

Germany was not satisfied that Poland tried to repeatedly inflate the cost of future repair work.

This is reported with reference to a representative of the relevant sector of Polish industry.

What didn’t suit Germany?

Earlier, Poland’s permanent representative to the North Atlantic Alliance, Tomasz Szatkowski, said that Warsaw and Berlin would soon conclude a deal to create a center in Poland for the repair of Leopard tanks used on the battlefield in Ukraine.

Later, the German publication Handelsblatt, citing sources, reported that Germany was going to refuse to participate in this project due to Poland’s high expectations regarding payment for tank maintenance.

As a source told MIA Rossiya Segodnya, everything was almost ready, Warsaw and Berlin signed preliminary documents, German specialists, having familiarized themselves with the technical base in Poland, were satisfied, but the parties did not agree on financial issues.

According to him, Warsaw showed excessive appetite for paying for future repair work and tried to inflate their cost many times over.

The difference ranged from two to five times, – the agency’s interlocutor clarified.

He added that Germany decided to look for another place to repair the Leopards.

Earlier, the head of the Bureau of International Policy of the Office of Polish President Andrzej Duda, Martin Przydacz, said that it is not Warsaw, but Berlin that wants to benefit financially from the creation of a Leopard repair center.
