A criminal case has been opened in Poland regarding the attack on Russian Ambassador Sergei Andreev on May 9.

The prosecutor’s office decided to open the case based on the results of the investigation.

This is reported with reference to Ambassador Andreev.

What happened

On May 9, at the Warsaw memorial cemetery for Soviet soldiers, the Russian ambassador, who came to lay flowers, was doused with red syrup.

The police pushed the crowd back, and the ambassador and his entourage left the scene of the attack.

Under what article was the case opened?

As the ambassador said, he was sent a letter from the prosecutor’s office notifying him that a case had been opened regarding the incident.

According to Andreev, the case was opened under Art. 136 of the Criminal Code of Poland (attack on an accredited diplomatic representative), the sanction of which provides for up to 5 years of imprisonment.

It is noted that the Warsaw police did not reveal any violations in the actions of the police officers present at the scene.
