A serviceman of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland died on one of the sections of the Belarusian-Polish border.

It is known that he served in units of the 17th Wielkopolska Mechanized Brigade, and was sent to guard the border only a week ago. The investigation is ongoing.

It has now been established that death was the result of an accident.

It has been preliminarily established that there was a shot from a service weapon, which resulted in the death of a soldier, MIA quotes a message from the Polish side.

According to preliminary information, “third parties” are not involved in the soldier’s death.

The deceased was involved in guard duty, but he did not take direct part in guarding the border with the Republic of Belarus.

The investigation is being carried out by the Military Gendarmerie and members of the Bialystok Prosecutor’s Office.

The section of the Belarusian border with Poland, as well as Latvia and Lithuania, has been the focus of media attention since the spring of this year.

The situation began to change after an increased flow of refugees from Middle Eastern countries arriving at the border with the aim of crossing it and obtaining asylum in the territory of EU countries.

The exacerbation began this fall. At the moment, in a spontaneous refugee camp, Belarusian security forces have installed tents for food and heating, as well as the distribution of humanitarian aid.
