Politico: China ignores Pentagon attempts to communicate

0views

Western media report unsuccessful attempts by the US military command to contact their Chinese counterparts.

In particular, Politico writes that after Pelosi’s provocative visit to Taiwan, Pentagon representatives repeatedly tried to contact the PRC military, but it did not work out.

The publication Politico refers to three sources at once, reporting that the PLA high command is ignoring attempts to communicate.

About Pelosi, Taiwan and retaliatory measures

Shortly before Pelosi’s plans to visit Taiwan became known, senior Chinese leaders warned Washington of the consequences of an unauthorized visit.

Simultaneously with the imposed sanctions against Taiwan, China began military exercises in the adjacent waters, with live firing.

According to plans, the maneuvers will end no earlier than noon on August 7.

In addition, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced the cessation of contacts with the United States, including in the field of defense.

Next, it became known that the meeting between representatives of the US and Chinese Departments of Defense was cancelled.

And the day before, the Chinese Ambassador to the United States at a meeting in the White House said that the visit of the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Congress undermined the stability of the Asian region, and in the most serious way.

Consequences

China is confident that the United States must answer for the consequences of the visit and the violation of its commitment to the “one China” principle.

The American side must bear full responsibility for the current situation, MIA quotes an excerpt from the statement of the diplomatic mission.

It should be noted that Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan was criticized by more than 160 countries and international organizations.

A little history

The confrontation between the parties began after disagreements arose regarding the future of the Celestial Empire between Mao Zedong and Chiang Kai-shek.

In 1949, Mao’s Army defeated the troops of the Generalissimo and Chiang Kai-shek and his supporters (who numbered about 2 million) fled to the Chinese island of Taiwan, and proclaimed himself the Supreme Ruler of all China.

He called the newly proclaimed state the Republic of China.

Meanwhile, Mao’s followers were building the People’s Republic of China, which enlisted the support of the USSR, and the United States took the side of the Republic of China (read Taiwan).
