Pope Francis signed his abdication document. And just in case

23views

Pope Francis said that he signed the document of renunciation.

However, this does not mean that the current pontiff will soon leave the throne.

This will happen if the current head of the Catholic Church has serious health problems.

Thus, Francis signed the document in advance. He did this while Tarcisio Bertone was Secretary of State of the Holy See, that is, until mid-October 2013.

I signed it and told him: “In case of obstacles for medical reasons or for any other reasons, here is my renunciation,” – MIA quotes the words of Pope Francis.

The pontiff shared the relevant information in an interview with one of the Spanish newspapers.

The health status of the Pope

This summer it became known that the pontiff was experiencing pain in his knee joint.

Due to health problems, the Pope sometimes needs medical help.

As Francis, who recently turned 86, noted, in his situation it is necessary either to conserve his strength in order to continue to fulfill the functions of the head of the Catholic Church, or to abdicate.

According to the current Pope, the pontiff can be “changed,” and there is nothing wrong with that.
