0views

A pregnant woman died in Poland. It is reported that the cause of the tragedy was the current restrictions on abortion in the country.

The incident occurred in September, but only became widely publicized earlier this month.

In Warsaw, Krakow and other cities of the state, mass protests of citizens against the current law prohibiting termination of pregnancy have resumed.

As the NTV channel, during pregnancy, the deceased Isabella was diagnosed with congenital malformations of the fetus.

The doctors also knew about the existing threat to the patient’s life. The family lawyer stated this, adding that the doctors still refused to perform an abortion.

The fetus died in the hospital. Less than a day later, the woman also died of septic shock. She is survived by her daughter and husband.

According to human rights activists, this is not the only case when Polish doctors do not terminate a pregnancy, waiting for a fetus with developmental defects to die in the womb.

In turn, the staff of the hospital where Isabella died note that they did everything possible to save the woman and her child.

At the same time, they emphasized that doctors made decisions based on the legal standards in force in the country.

The ruling party of the neighboring state, Law and Justice, commented on the incident, stating the following:

Medical errors happen, and women still sometimes die in childbirth.
