President of Brazil: the world has begun to get tired of the Ukrainian conflict

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said that the world has begun to get tired of the conflict in Ukraine.

The Brazilian head of state made this statement on July 19 at the summit of the European Union and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean Countries (CELAC) in Brussels.

The agency reports this.

What did the President of Brazil say about the conflict in Ukraine?

Lula da Silva said that the world has begun to get tired of the conflict in Ukraine.

The world is starting to get tired. Countries are starting to get tired – he said.

The Brazilian leader also stated the need to create a group of countries capable of promoting a peaceful settlement when the right moment comes.

There will come a time when peace will come. And then a group of countries will arise that will be able to talk with Russia and Ukraine, – said Lula da Silva.

Sources told Bloomberg that EU countries were upset by the Brazilian president’s reluctance to agree to tough language regarding Russia.

Venezuela and Cuba also opposed the hard line. The Brazilian president was wary of upsetting Russia, one diplomat said, even though French President Emmanuel Macron praised him for his ability to build bridges.

Senior European officials, speaking to Bloomberg, called the final statement of the EU-CELAC summit a great achievement because it spoke of a “war on Ukraine” and because all countries except Nicaragua signed it.

It is also reported that Lula da Silva criticized Chilean President Gabriel Borich, who called on the leaders of Latin American countries to unequivocally condemn the Russian special operation.

The President of Chile said that Russia violated international law and that today it is Ukraine, and tomorrow “it could be any of us.”

Perhaps the lack of habit of participating in such meetings causes young people to be more harsh, to act too hastily, – said the President of Brazil about his Chilean counterpart.

Earlier, Lula da Silva said that Russia is the guarantor of long-term peace in the world, and proposed creating a new international format to establish a dialogue between Ukraine and Russia.

The President of Brazil also expressed his readiness to become a mediator in direct negotiations between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky.
