President of Poland: the issue of Germany paying war reparations is not closed

57views

Polish President Andrzej Duda said that the issue of Germany paying war reparations is not closed.

The Polish head of state made this statement on February 28 at the award ceremony for the authors of the report on Poland’s losses during World War II.

The ceremony was broadcast by Duda’s office.

What Duda said about reparations

The President of Poland said that the issue of Germany paying reparations is not closed, but from the financial side is at least controversial.

Even if they try to sweep this issue under the rug and bury it, the time for it will come, – Duda noted.

Poland is demanding reparations from Germany in the amount of 6.2 trillion zlotys ($1.3 million).

In October last year, Warsaw sent a corresponding note to Berlin through the Foreign Ministry.

After the change of power, the new head of the Polish Foreign Ministry, Radoslaw Sikorski, said that the issue of reparations was closed.

Berlin has repeatedly stated that it does not intend to pay reparations to Poland.

Earlier, rioting farmers in Spain blocked the highway on the border with France.
