Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who tragically died in a plane crash, was buried in Iran.

According to world media reports, about 3 million people came to pay their last respects to the deceased politician.

The head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, who was on board with him, and a number of other high-ranking officials also died.

According to MIA Rossiya Segodnya, Raisi was buried on May 23 in his hometown of Mashhad, located in the north-west of the country.

Moreover, they were buried in a place that is considered the calling card of the locality – the mausoleum of Imam Reza (the 8th of the 12 imams revered by Iranian Shiites).

The prefect of the mentioned city, Mohsen Davari, said that about 3 million people took part in the farewell ceremony for the president and other victims.

Some of them were pilgrims who came to Mashhad from other cities,” he noted.

Previously, the head of the State Department said that the Iranians benefited from the death of President Raisi.
