Presidential elections have started in Finland

This Sunday, January 28, presidential elections started in Finland – voting began in the first round.

Polling stations opened at nine in the morning (ten in the morning Belarusian time).

They will work until eight o’clock in the evening (nine o’clock in Minsk time), – MIA Rossiya Segodnya.

It is known that 4,200,000 Finns have the right to vote. And 44.7% of citizens, that is, 1.9 million people, voted early.

The votes will be counted after the polls close. If none of the candidates receives more than 50% of the votes, a second round will be held (February 11).

According to local legislation, the Ministry of Justice must announce the results of the first round no later than January 30, the second – no later than February 14.

There are 9 candidates participating in the current presidential campaign, but, according to local media, the main contenders for the top job are ex-Prime Minister Alexander Stubb and ex-Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto.

The latest survey showed that 27% of Finns are ready to vote for the former, and 23% for the latter.

In third place is the Speaker of Parliament, candidate from the right-wing True Finns party Jussi Halla-aho (18%).

Earlier it became known that Finland is preparing real estate transactions entirely for Russians.
