10views

On Friday, June 18, presidential elections were held in Iran.

The victory was won by Ibrahim Raisi, the head of the country’s judiciary.

The success of the statesman in the presidential elections was reported on Iranian television.

It is noted that 17.9 million Iranian citizens voted for Raisi.

The total number of voters who took part in the voting is 28.9 million.

Thus, Ibrahim Raisi received 61.9 percent of the votes, which is enough to win in the first round.

The head of Iran’s judiciary has been officially declared the winner of the elections.

The politician was congratulated by all his opponents, as well as the current Iranian leader Hassan Rouhani.

Why Rouhani did not take part in the elections

The current Iranian President Hassan Rouhani was not included in the list of candidates for one of the main government posts in the country.

The fact is that the politician served two terms as president.

Rouhani won the presidency twice: in 2013 and 2017. The first time he won 50.71 percent of the votes. The second time, 57.14 percent of voters voted for him.
