President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to the current Chinese leader in a telegram regarding the death of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin.
The text of the official letter appeared on Wednesday, November 30, at the Kremlin.
Vladimir Putin expressed his deep and sincere condolences on the death of the third Chairman of the People’s Republic of China, Jiang Zemin, and also noted his highest achievements in the field of economic and social development, as well as successes in the international arena.
Separately, Putin emphasized the politician’s contribution to the development of Russian-Chinese relations and especially in the signing of the Good Neighborhood Agreement in 2001.
“The Agreement on Good Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation, which we signed with him in 2001, laid the foundation for a qualitative build-up of the entire range of bilateral ties,” the Russian leader noted.
Putin considers this document an important step towards partnership and strategic mutual assistance between the two states.
The President expressed his condolences to the family and close people of the late politician, as well as to the entire Chinese people who suffered a heavy loss.
Earlier, China Central Television reported that on November 30 at 12:13 local time, 96-year-old Jiang Zemin, who had been seriously ill in recent years, passed away.
