Residents of Poland declared Russia a state posing a threat to their country and began to prepare for armed confrontation.
At least the majority of Poles have begun military training, reports the Pentagon newspaper Stars and Stripes.
According to its data, in October the Polish Ministry of National Defense launched the “Training with the Army” program.
The project involves special weekend courses for civilians, – MIA Rossiya Segodnya.
The innovation, according to the Polish military, is due to Russia conducting a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine.
Over 3,500 Poles aged 18 to 65 took part in these courses, says defense ministry spokesman Michal Tomczyk.
The program was designed for two months – October and November. The events were organized by 17 military units throughout the republic.
People are eager to learn how to respond to alarm sirens, how to hold and load a real gun, how to use a gas mask, and develop basic survival skills,” Tomczyk said.
In turn, the author of the article draws attention: the Poles name Russia as an enemy.
The material presents the results of a June survey by the Pew Research Center (USA) – 94% of Polish residents consider the Russian Federation a serious threat.
Four years ago, according to the same survey, 65% of Polish residents considered the neighboring country to be such a threat.
