Users of X (formerly Twitter) in Brazil reported having gained access to the social media platform this Wednesday morning (18).
by order of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
The decision was taken after the Supreme Court ordered South African billionaire Elon Musk, owner of X, to appoint a new legal representative for the company in Brazil, under penalty of suspension of the platform.
The 24-hour deadline granted to comply with the order was not respected by the company.
Moraes released X and Starlink accounts after blocking
Last week, after determining the blocking of R$18.3 million from companies. The amount corresponds to fines owed by the company to the Court.
Wanted by CNNthe National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) reported that there was no change in Minister Moraes’ decision and that it is verifying the reported cases.
HAS CNNthe STF said it will not comment on the episode.
