Return of X: logins, passwords and previous posts must remain unchanged

0views

OX requested the resumption of its operations in Brazil and is now awaiting a decision from Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF). With the news of the possible return of the social network, internet users began to discuss whether it would be necessary to update logins and passwords. However, experts say that the return of the platform should not affect user registrations.

“In theory, absolutely nothing changes with user registration. That is, login, password, posts, etc. remain. I believe it is very unlikely that they deleted it, as it is a global base, said Arthur Igreja, the technology and innovation specialist.

“The fact that it became unavailable in one region (Brazil) does not change anything in relation to registration, which is something centralized. But, to be 100% sure, we will have to analyze it as the platform returns in Brazil”, he added.

It is up to Moraes to analyze whether the documentation provided by X complies with the requirements, in addition to paying the fines due.

There is no deadline for the judge to complete this analysis and decide on the return of the platform in the country, leaving users waiting for a definitive resolution.

Last week, X had already fulfilled one of the minister’s main demands as the company’s legal representative in Brazil. According to the network, it will ship to a physical office and known address.

Furthermore, the social network claims to have blocked the accounts targeted by STF requests, including that of Senator Marcos do Val (Podemos-ES). The network also stated that it had paid off for having failed to comply with previous Court decisions.

To decide whether or not to authorize the return of X, Moraes must check:

  • whether the appointment of the company representative meets all legal requirements;
  • whether all required documentation reached the STF;
  • whether all orders to block profiles and content indicated by the Court were complied with;
  • the due payment of fines imposed for non-compliance with previous decisions, including the fine imposed last week for the punctual resumption of the network for some users after an X update.

In addition to Moraes, the unblocking of the platform in the country also depends on communication from the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) to internet providers in the country.

OX was blocked by Moraes on August 30th. The decision was confirmed unanimously by the first panel of the Court. The action involving billionaire Elon Musk’s platform is being carried out under judicial secrecy.

According to experts interviewed by CNNthe return of X should not significantly impact user access and registration.
