Street protests continue in South Africa.
According to the latest data, 212 people died during the unrest.
The total number of protesters detained by law enforcement officers exceeds 1,600.
This was reported by foreign media with reference to representatives of the South African authorities.
However, there is a gradual stabilization of the situation in southern Africa.
Moreover, until recently, the South African authorities planned to involve the armed forces to stop the unrest.
The involvement of reservists was not excluded. This could happen in the country for the first time in recent decades.
Reason for the protests
Mass protests began in the Republic of South Africa after supporters of ex-president Jacob Zuma took to the streets: he was sentenced to 1 year and 3 months in prison.
The fact is that the former head of state refused to give evidence to law enforcement officers investigating his activities as president of South Africa. So, Zuma is suspected of corruption.
Mass events in South Africa quickly turned into riots. People began to loot retail establishments.
